Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office addresses media representatives and social media users
The General Prosecutor's Office has addressed media representatives and users of social networks.
Caliber.Az reports that the agency brought to their attention the order to provide information related to the fight against terrorism.
It is noted that during anti-terrorist activities carried out on the basis of the law "On Combating Terrorism" of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the public is informed about terrorist acts in the form and volume established by the head of the operational headquarters or a representative of the operational headquarters responsible for public relations.
The following information may not be disseminated:
1) on tactics and technical means of conducting anti-terrorist operations;
2) information that poses a threat to the life and health of people in the area of anti-terrorist operations or outside this area and that hinders the conduct of anti-terrorist operations;
3) information justifying terrorism or serving as its propaganda;
4) information about persons participating in anti-terrorist operations or assisting in such activities.
Posting information on terrorist acts and anti-terrorist activities in Internet information resources prohibited for dissemination is considered an administrative offence (Article 388-1 of the Code of Administrative Offences). Individuals are punished with an administrative fine from 500 manats to 1000 manats, officials from 1000 manats to 1500 manats or administrative arrest for up to 1 month, and legal entities are fined from 1500 manats to 2000 manats.
