Baku, Ankara, Tbilisi strengthen Middle Corridor ties in high-level talks
Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with delegations led by the chairmen of the Foreign Relations Committees of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye and the Parliament of Georgia — Fuat Oktay and Nikoloz Samkharadze — with a focus on the development of the Middle Corridor.
The meeting highlighted the current state and future development of the Azerbaijan-Türkiye alliance, the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Georgia, and regional security issues, Caliber.Az reports, citing the foreign ministry.
Participants emphasised the importance of expanding interparliamentary cooperation and maintaining regular contacts between foreign relations committees, noting that the 10th trilateral session of the Azerbaijan-Türkiye-Georgia parliamentary committees serves as a catalyst for strengthening ties.
The sides highlighted that trilateral formats involving foreign and defence ministers contribute to peace, stability, security, and prosperity in the region. Key topics included energy security, transport and communications projects — including the development of the Middle Corridor — and regional economic integration.
Participants also exchanged views on sustaining peace and stability in the post-conflict period, the normalisation process between Baku and Yerevan, and the role of parliamentary diplomacy in advancing these efforts. Bayramov provided detailed updates on the ongoing peace settlement process.
