Baku Military Court rejects Davit Manukyan’s motion to separate charges
The trial of Armenian citizens accused of war crimes, genocide, terrorism, and the violent seizure of power continues at the Baku Military Court.
During the session on October 30, the defence lawyer for Levon Mnatsakanyan, Ogtay Madatov, requested permission to meet with his client during a recess, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The judge confirmed that arrangements would be made to facilitate the meeting.
Later, defendant Davit Manukyan filed a motion seeking to have the charges of establishing an organised criminal group removed from the case and considered separately. His lawyer, Valeh Gurbanov, supported the request.
State prosecutor Fuad Musayev argued that the motion was not relevant at the current stage of the trial. Following deliberation, the court dismissed Manukyan’s motion as unfounded.
Subsequently, the lawyer for defendant Madat Babayan, Leyla Namazzade, submitted a similar motion to exclude certain parts of her client’s charges.
The defendant supported the request, but prosecutor Tarana Mammadova called for it to be rejected. The court said a decision on this motion would be made following further deliberation.
