Belarusian leader: Russia will never accept European peacekeepers in Ukraine
Russia will never agree to the deployment of a European peacekeeping contingent on Ukrainian territory.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko made this statement in an interview with American blogger Mario Nawfal, Caliber.Az reports citing Belarus media.
"Russia will never agree to this. At least, that is Russia’s position as of today," he emphasized.
Lukashenko also pointed out that the leading European Union countries, particularly Germany and France, currently maintain a highly aggressive stance toward Russia.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov already expressed his stark opposition to the proposal of a European contingent in Ukraine.
Speaking to reporters following the highly-awaited first talks with the US in many years in Saudia Arabia, Lavrov said that "the appearance of armed forces from the same NATO countries, but under a false flag, under the flag of the European Union, or under national flags, does not change anything in this regard. Of course, this is unacceptable to us.”
