Biden administration fails to fully allocate $4 billion to Ukraine, funds shift to Trump
The Biden administration has been unable to fully utilize the $4 billion allocated from the US budget to support Ukraine’s armament efforts.
This unspent sum will be transferred to the incoming administration of President Donald Trump, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
The Pentagon unveiled a significant military aid package as part of the US arms procurement program for Ukraine.
Deputy Pentagon press secretary Sabrina Singh clarified that the unspent funds would be managed by the Trump administration.
“It will be just under $4 billion that will be left in authority that the next administration will get the opportunity to use for Ukraine,” Singh told reporters.
The Pentagon also acknowledged that the ongoing conflict in Ukraine has facilitated a $70 billion investment into the US military-industrial complex.
The Wall Street Journal reported in December that Ukraine anticipates receiving over $120 billion in military aid from Western allies in 2025.
The latest Ramstein-format meeting, chaired by US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin, commenced on January 9 after a four-month pause. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also attended, with air defence system enhancement being a key agenda item. Zelenskyy highlighted the importance of sustaining Ukraine's defence capabilities as the conflict continues.
Looking ahead, the Pentagon announced plans to create roadmaps for military support through 2027, ensuring a steady flow of aid to Kyiv in the years to come.
