Blinken: Russia loses on battlefield
As Russia fails to achieve its goals on the battlefield and becomes increasingly isolated on the world stage, Russian President Vladimir Putin is resorting to cruder tools to try to deprive Ukraine of EU support.
RBC-Ukraine reports with reference to a statement by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
According to the head of the State Department, the President of the Russian Federation uses energy as a weapon against Europe, increasing the costs of families, businesses and entire states.
“President Putin is betting that these actions will break the will of countries to stand with Ukraine,” Blinken said in an appearance at NATO headquarters. “He’s betting that the Kremlin can bully other countries into submission.”
At the same time, Blinken said, adding that Europe would emerge stronger if it became less dependent on Russian energy supplies
and that the US would help EU countries facing exorbitant heating costs.
