British FM pledges NATO airspace protection amid Russian drone incursions
British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper has expressed her country's readiness to defend NATO airspace amid recent Russian drone incursions into NATO airspace.
She made the remarks addressing the UN Security Council meeting on September 23, which discussed the situation in Ukraine, Caliber.Az writes via The Independent.
After US President Donald Trump urged NATO countries to shoot down intruding Russian planes during his speech at the meeting, Cooper responded by saying the UK is “ready to act.”
“In recent weeks, we’ve seen provocative and reckless violations of NATO airspace in Estonia, Poland and Romania, against which NATO stands firm, and we will be ready to act,” Cooper emphasised.
Cooper criticised Moscow for its “provocative and reckless” violations of NATO airspace in recent weeks during a speech to the United Nations. It came as Trump said Ukraine can win back all territory it has lost to Russia – a dramatic shift from his previous call on Kyiv to make concessions.
She added at the United Nations Security Council meeting: “Ukraine’s security is our security, and all of us depend on upholding the UN Charter.
