Canada backs recognition of Palestinian state
The recognition of the state of Palestine, which would coexist peacefully with Israel, should eventually lead to the end of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made the statement while talking to journalists in Vancouver, which was broadcast by national TV channels, TASS reported.
"We will continue to advocate for a two-state solution to the [Palestinian-Israeli conflict] and we will work towards that," Trudeau said. - We will not see peace and stability in the region until Israelis live in a secure Jewish state and Palestinians live out their aspirations in a secure, safe and prosperous Palestinian state recognised within international borders."
Trudeau said Ottawa's efforts on the international stage are now focused on achieving that goal.
