China increases coal production to record in 2023

Coal production in China at the end of 2023 increased by 2.9% and reached 4.66 billion tons, according to the State Statistics Administration (SSA).
This is a record figure, Interfax reports, citing local media.
In December, the country produced 414.31 million tons of coal, which practically coincided with the November volume and exceeded the December 2022 figure by 1.9%, the State Statistics Service reported.
However, the average daily production fell to 13.36 million tons last month from a record 13.8 million tons in November.
China imported 474.42 million tons of coal in 2023, which is 61.8% more than the previous year, according to customs data. This is also the maximum volume while making payments.
