Hate-motivated killing of Tajik child prompts protest to Moscow

17 December 2025 14:16

Tajikistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has formally protested to Russia following the killing of a 10-year-old Tajik boy at a school in Odintsovo. The Embassy of Tajikistan in Russia has taken the case under strict supervision and sent an official letter to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“This incident is under strict control of the Embassy of Tajikistan in Russia. An official letter has been sent to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Embassy remains in constant contact with the mother of the deceased,” the ministry said, emphasizing ongoing diplomatic engagement on the matter, Caliber.Az reports, citing Tajik media.

The ministry also expressed condolences to the family on its own behalf and voiced hope that Russian authorities would conduct a thorough investigation and hold those responsible accountable.

In a formal diplomatic step, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan handed a protest note to Russian Ambassador to Tajikistan Semyon Grigoryev, who was summoned to the ministry.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan strongly condemns the hate-motivated attack on a citizen of the Republic of Tajikistan, a fourth-grade student of Uspenskaya Secondary School in the settlement of Gorki-2, Odintsovo city district of Moscow Oblast, Kobiljon Aliyev, which occurred on December 16, 2025, at the specified school, resulting in the death of the aforementioned child at the scene,” the ministry said in an official statement.
