IRGC Navy rejects US claims of free navigation in Strait of Hormuz

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy said on August 29 that Tehran retains full control of the Strait of Hormuz, rejecting U.S. claims that unrestricted international shipping through the strategic waterway has been restored.

In an official statement, the IRGC Navy described the U.S. statements as a “blatant lie” intended to contain oil prices and conceal what it called an American defeat.

Iranian forces said their control over the strait remained “complete and decisive” and warned that vessels would not be allowed to pass without prior coordination with Tehran.

The IRGC said the situation would remain unchanged until the United States ends its actions and fulfils its obligations under a framework agreement reached about two and a half months ago, whose validity has since expired.
