China launches communication technology test satellite into orbit
China has launched a new communication technology test satellite into orbit from the Wenchang Space Launch Site in Hainan Province.
The satellite was carried into space at 10:10 a.m. Beijing Time on June 23 aboard a modified Long March-7 carrier rocket and has successfully entered its designated orbit, officials said, Caliber.Az reports per Chinese media.
It will primarily be used to support satellite communications, broadcasting and television services, and data transmission, as well as to conduct related technology verification tests.
The launch marks the 653rd mission of China’s Long March rocket family, a cornerstone of the country’s space program used for a wide range of orbital deployments.
The Wenchang Space Launch Site, located on China’s southern island province of Hainan, is one of the country’s key facilities for launching medium and heavy-lift rockets into space.
