China pledges to strengthen "Group of Friends for Peace" to resolve Ukraine crisis
Chinese President Xi Jinping has reiterated China’s commitment to advancing a political resolution to the conflict in Ukraine by strengthening the role of the "Group of Friends for Peace."
This was highlighted during a recent phone conversation with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, according to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, quoted by Caliber.Az.
President Xi emphasised the importance of China and Brazil collaborating to address pressing global challenges. He specifically noted the need to ensure the success of the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference in Belém and to bolster the influence of the "Group of Friends for Peace" in facilitating a diplomatic solution to the ongoing Ukrainian crisis.
In his remarks, Xi also called on countries from the Global South to unite in support of international justice and the rule of law. He stressed the importance of upholding fundamental principles that govern international relations and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of developing nations.
