Tanker hit by unknown projectile while transiting Strait of Hormuz

A tanker transiting the Strait of Hormuz was struck by an unknown projectile, leaving two crew members with minor injuries, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said.

Military authorities informed UKMTO that the tanker was conducting an inbound transit when it was hit.

The vessel remains operational and is continuing to its next port of call under its own power, UKMTO said. No environmental impact has been reported.

Authorities are investigating the incident and have advised vessels to transit the Strait of Hormuz with caution and report any suspicious activity to UKMTO.
