Uzbek president congratulates Putin on successful elections

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has sent a letter to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, congratulating him on the successful holding of elections to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russia and wishing him good health.

Elections to the ninth State Duma were held in Russia from September 18 to 20; as of September 21, vote counting was still underway, Caliber.Az reports, citing Uzbek media.

After 95.22% of ballots had been processed, United Russia had received 57.83% of the vote. The Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) had 13.80%, the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) 8.98%, and New People 7.96%. A Just Russia received 4.96%, according to preliminary results.

Russia’s Central Election Commission said turnout stood at 59.32%.

In his letter, Mirziyoyev made clear that the elections, in his assessment, demonstrated a high level of political culture and civic consolidation in Russian society. He also highlighted the record voter turnout and the results of the vote.

Mirziyoyev further stated that these figures demonstrated a high level of trust among Russian citizens in the strategic course pursued under Putin’s leadership. The letter stressed that this course was aimed at continuing the country’s socio-economic development and protecting national interests.

The Uzbek president also highlighted bilateral relations, noting the development of comprehensive strategic partnership and allied relations between Uzbekistan and Russia.

According to Mirziyoyev, interparliamentary cooperation plays an important role in relations between the two countries. As noted in the letter, it should continue to contribute to the implementation of joint projects and programmes.

The Uzbek president expressed confidence that, through joint efforts, the two countries would be able to give fresh impetus to the development of bilateral cooperation and fill it with new initiatives.

In conclusion, Mirziyoyev wished Putin good health and further success in his state activities, while wishing the people of Russia peace, prosperity and well-being.
