CNN: Iran destroys radar of US THAAD battery in Jordan
The U.S. THAAD air defence radar system in Jordan was likely destroyed during the first days of the armed conflict with Iran, CNN reports, citing satellite imagery they analysed.
Additionally, buildings housing similar systems may have been hit at two other locations in the United Arab Emirates, though the network cannot confirm whether they sustained serious damage.
On February 28, the U.S. and Israel launched a military operation against Iran, striking the country’s largest cities, including Tehran. In response to the U.S. and Israeli strikes, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps conducted a large-scale retaliatory operation, targeting facilities in Israel as well as U.S. assets in Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia.
As a result of the strikes on Iran, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several key government officials were reportedly killed.
