US launches new operation against Iran: “Economic Fury”

The United States Department of the Treasury has launched a new operation against Iran dubbed “Economic Fury,” aimed at exerting maximum pressure on Tehran to push it toward what Washington describes as a wise choice, US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth has announced.

He said Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent and his colleagues at the Treasury Department were launching Operation “Economic Fury,” significantly intensifying economic pressure, Caliber.Az reports, citing USA TODAY.

He noted that the campaign would target the entire Iranian government.

Hegseth also stressed that US forces had previously transitioned “from major combat operations to a world-class blockade,” and that they retain the capability to repeat such a shift “very quickly and even more powerfully than ever.”

Earlier, Hegseth addressed Iranian authorities directly, warning that the United States is closely monitoring their actions.

He added that the US is becoming “stronger” both militarily and in terms of intelligence capabilities.
