CoE secretary general: Attacks on diplomatic missions - unacceptable
Council of Europe Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić has condemned the armed attack on the Azerbaijani Embassy in Tehran.
"I strongly condemn today's attack on Azerbaijan's Embassy in Tehran. Attacks on diplomatic missions are unacceptable. I express my solidarity with Azerbaijan and my condolences for the victims," she wrote on Twitter, Caliber.Az reports.
An armed attack on the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the Islamic Republic of Iran was carried out on the morning of January 27.
According to Azerbaijani intelligence, the attacker entered the building with a Kalashnikov in his hands, killing the head of the security service.
Two embassy security guards were also injured in the attack.
The condition of the wounded is assessed as satisfactory.
The attacker was detained by Azerbaijani embassy personnel.
