Confiscated Russian oligarch’s superyacht Amadea finally sold at auction After years of legal battles
The confiscated superyacht of Russian oligarch Suleyman Kerimov has finally been sold. While the luxurious Amadea has a new owner, legal disputes surrounding it continue.
As confirmed to Business Insider by the U.S. Marshals Service, the 106-meter Amadea was auctioned by the U.S. government after being seized in Fiji in 2022 as part of Operation KleptoCapture. At the time of its seizure, the yacht was valued at $300 million, though its price was later reduced to around $230 million.
Built by the German company Lürssen — which also constructed yachts for Sergey Brin and Barry Diller — the vessel features six decks with an infinity pool, jacuzzi, two spa zones, a private cinema, a helipad, and even a lobster tank. Inside, it boasts a gilded bar, a luxury piano, and gold-accented elevators.
Despite its luxury, the yacht became a financial burden for the U.S. government, costing nearly $1 million per month to maintain. Authorities were eager to find a buyer to relieve taxpayers of the expense.
