COP29 president highlights private sector's role in climate action At US Chamber of Commerce event
Mukhtar Babayev, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources and President-Designate of COP29, participated in an event organized by the US Chamber of Commerce, where he emphasized the crucial role of the private sector in shaping a sustainable future.
A post by COP29 on its official X account notes that Babayev urged companies to communicate effectively with their governments, advocating for enhanced climate ambitions in Nationally Determined Contribution (NDCs), Caliber.Az reports.
He stressed the importance of making tangible commitments ahead of COP29 to address the pressing challenges of climate change.
“At an event hosted by the US Chamber, COP29 President Designate Mukhtar Babayev spoke on the importance of the private sector in creating a better future, recognized those that are already leading by example by setting net-zero goals and science-based targets, and urged companies to send clear messages to their governments to raise climate ambition for NDCs and come to COP29 real actionable commitments,” the post reads.
