Azerbaijan highlights peace efforts with Armenia at ICAPP summit
Tahir Budagov, Deputy Chair of New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), has outlined Azerbaijan's peace agenda for the South Caucasus, emphasising the region's stability and cooperation during 12th General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) in Cambodia.
Budagov highlighted the significance of the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, particularly on issues such as border delimitation, demarcation, and the restoration of communications, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He described this agreement as a pivotal element of Azerbaijan's peace efforts, stressing its global importance.
Deputy Chair reiterated Azerbaijan's commitment to the peace process, noting that the country has proposed solutions based on five fundamental principles of international law. Budagov expressed hope that Armenia would respond with a similarly constructive approach.
Organised by the Cambodian People's Party, the event focused on the theme "The Search for Peace and Reconciliation."
In his address, Budagov conveyed a message from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev:
"Political upheavals, accompanied by crises and confrontation, are affecting many countries. In such a challenging situation, the search for peace and reconciliation has become an absolute necessity. Today, in Azerbaijan, representatives of various peoples live in an environment of peace, tranquillity, and friendship."
Thus, the ICAPP assembly, attended by representatives from 49 political parties across 28 countries, provided a major platform for dialogue on peace and reconciliation.
The event underscored the broader geopolitical significance of promoting peace in the South Caucasus and beyond.
