Seven Middle Eastern countries welcome Azerbaijan-Armenia peace deal
Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Libya, Oman, Qatar, and Kuwait have expressed their support for the recent peace agreement reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan with the involvement of the United States.
Statements from the foreign ministries of these countries convey confidence that the agreement marks the beginning of a new chapter in cooperation and neighborly relations between the two nations, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The statements highly commend this historic accord for strengthening the foundations of stability and development in the Caucasus region, as well as praising the US efforts to resolve conflicts through diplomatic means and reduce tensions.
The peace agreement was signed during a landmark summit hosted by U.S. President Donald J. Trump on August 8, 2025, attended by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The leaders signed a joint declaration outlining a 7-point framework for peace, emphasizing sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the rejection of force. The foreign ministers of both nations initialed a draft “Agreement on Establishment of Peace and Inter-State Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia,” witnessed by Trump, Aliyev, and Pashinyan. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the accord as a “historic” step toward lasting peace.
A key component of the agreement is the establishment of the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP), also known as the Zangezur Corridor, a transit route through Armenia’s Syunik province connecting mainland Azerbaijan to its Nakhchivan exclave.
