Azerbaijan, Lebanon forge new friendship association

12 August 2025 18:42

A Lebanon-Azerbaijan Friendship Association has been established in Beirut, with its membership officially confirmed.

According to the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, the initiative to create the association came from Lebanese graduates who previously completed higher education in various Azerbaijani universities, notably engineer Akram Tarhini, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

The association aims to further strengthen ties between the peoples of the two countries and to expand cooperation in areas including science, culture, education, tourism, healthcare, social affairs, and other fields.

Akram Tarhini, president of the association, is also a project leader at the Lebanese Development and Reconstruction Council.

He studied at the Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry in 1991 and later attended the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction.

Tarhini has participated as a guest in numerous state and international events held in Azerbaijan. Recently, he attended the opening ceremony of the Azerbaijan House in the village of Kawashra in Lebanon.

This event, apart from fostering bilateral relations, is also considered significant for the Turkmen community residing in Lebanon.
