Drone assault strikes Crimea overnight, critical substation targeted video
On the night of November 22, temporarily occupied Crimea was subjected to a massive drone attack.
According to the Telegram channels Crimean Wind and ASTRA, the first explosions in Simferopol were heard around 12:45 a.m. local time, reportedly near the thermal power plant (GRES).
Ambulances later arrived at the scene. In the northwestern part of the city, a new series of powerful explosions was recorded.
Tensions were also high in the settlement of Hvardiiske, where a Russian airbase is located. Monitoring channel subscribers reported about ten explosions accompanied by sounds of gunfire. Explosions were also reported in Krasnoperekopsk and Armyansk.
Open-source information indicates that one of the likely targets was the 220 kV Krasnoperekopsk substation, which provides main electricity supply to a significant portion of the peninsula.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces attacked a substation in Rylsk, the Kursk region of Russia. About 3,000 people were left without electricity.
The information was provided by Governor Alexander Khinshtein.
“The Ukrainian Armed Forces carried out a targeted strike on the substation in the Borovskoy district of Rylsk. As a result of the attack, two boiler houses were disabled. Around 3,000 subscribers were left without electricity,” the regional head said, adding that, according to preliminary information, there were no casualties.
