Drone strikes rock Odesa overnight: Fires damage residential blocks, historic landmarks Photo
On July 24, Odesa endured a devastating night of attacks as Russian drones targeted the southern Ukrainian city, causing widespread destruction to residential buildings and historic landmarks.
At least three people were injured after a residential high-rise was struck, leading to the partial collapse of one entrance and severe fire damage across multiple floors, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrainian media.
Ukraine's State Emergency Service (SES) confirmed that flats from the fifth to eighth floors of a nine-storey building were destroyed in the assault.
“Flats were obliterated, people were injured, and fires erupted — Odesa has once again lived through a night of hell,” the SES said in a statement.
The agency reported that fires broke out on the fifth and sixth floors, with emergency crews deployed throughout the night to contain the blazes and rescue residents.
In addition to the residential damage, the drone barrage sparked fires in Odesa’s historic city centre.
Notably, parts of the renowned Pryvoz Market — a major cultural and commercial hub — caught fire, and several listed architectural monuments sustained damage.
