Drunk Ukrainian serviceman opens fire in Zaporizhzhia region, two wounded
A Ukrainian serviceman has been detained after opening fire during a street altercation in the Zaporizhzhia region, leaving two people wounded.
According to police, the incident began inside a local store, where the man, reportedly intoxicated, behaved aggressively and provocatively, sparking outrage among other customers. The confrontation escalated and continued outside the shop, where a physical fight broke out involving the serviceman and three other individuals.
During the altercation, the serviceman drew a pistol and fired multiple shots at those involved.
A 17-year-old teenager and a 33-year-old man sustained gunshot wounds and were hospitalised. The suspect was subsequently detained by authorities.
“The suspect turned out to be a serviceman born in 1983. It was preliminarily established that the incident began in a local store, where the man, in a state of alcohol intoxication, behaved rudely and provocatively, which caused outrage among other customers. Outside the store, a fight broke out between him and three other participants in the incident, during which the suspect pulled out a pistol and fired several shots toward his opponents. Two victims with gunshot wounds were hospitalised. He faces up to 7 years in prison,” police said.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
