Duda: Russia-Wagner crisis internal matter, poses no threat
Polish authorities will not order an increased army's combat readiness due to the situation with the attempted coup in Russia and consider the events in Russia an internal matter of the country.
Polish President Andrzej Duda made the statement on Jun 24 following a meeting of the National Security Bureau, TASS reported.
“We absolutely believe that it is an internal matter for Russia … we are not ordering any increased level of readiness from our army,” Reuters quoted the president as saying. Duda also said, as Bloomberg notes, that "everything points to a de-escalation [of the situation] in Russia, and there is no increased risk to [Poland's] security."
For his part, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki suggested that there could be "increased tension" on Poland's border with Belarus, Reuters reported.
