Media: Telegram founder questioned again by Paris court over ongoing investigation
Pavel Durov, co-founder of the popular encrypted messaging app Telegram, was once again questioned by a Paris court on July 28 as part of an ongoing investigation linked to alleged criminal activities facilitated via the platform.
Durov arrived at the Paris courthouse at approximately 10:00 a.m. local time. The tech entrepreneur declined to offer any public comments as he entered the building, maintaining silence on the legal proceedings, Caliber.Az reports, citing French media.
The questioning follows Durov’s previous detention on August 4 of last year at Le Bourget Airport in Paris. At the time, French authorities placed him under temporary custody in connection with a series of allegations, including complicity in operating a digital platform suspected of enabling illegal transactions within the framework of organized criminal activity.
French investigators have expressed concerns that Telegram’s encrypted messaging features may have been exploited by criminal networks to conduct illicit activities, including drug trafficking, cybercrime, and financial fraud, while escaping law enforcement scrutiny.
