Trump: No evidence Russia supports Iran

U.S. President Donald Trump said he sees no evidence that Russia is supporting Iran in the ongoing conflict.

Speaking to reporters aboard the presidential aircraft Air Force One, Trump said there were no grounds to believe Moscow was backing Tehran militarily.

The remarks were broadcast by the The White House on its YouTube channel.

“There is no reason to think that Russia is supporting Iran in the war. If they are, they’re not doing a very good job, because Iran is not doing very well,” Trump said.

Trump’s comments come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East and speculation about possible external support for Tehran.
