Trump sets new 12-day deadline for Putin to reach Ukraine peace deal UPDATED
US President Donald Trump announced on July 28 that he is shortening the timeline for Russian President Vladimir Putin to reach a peace agreement with Ukraine, warning that failure to do so would trigger sweeping “secondary tariffs” targeting Moscow’s trade partners.
Speaking during a meeting with US Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Scotland, Trump said the previous 50-day deadline, which was due to expire in early September, had not produced results, Caliber.Az reports via CNBC.
“I’m going to make a new deadline of about 10 — 10 or 12 days from today,” Trump told reporters. “There’s no reason they’re waiting,” he added. “I want to be generous, but we just don’t see any progress being made.”

US President Donald Trump announced on July 28 that he is shortening the 50-day deadline he had previously given Russian President Vladimir Putin to broker a peace agreement with Ukraine or face heavy economic consequences.
Speaking in Scotland alongside United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer ahead of a bilateral meeting, Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of progress, Caliber.Az quotes CNBC.
“I’m disappointed in President Putin,” Trump said. “I’m going to reduce that 50 days I gave him to a lesser number.”
He did not specify the revised timeline. The White House has yet to respond to a request for comment from CNBC.
Trump initially issued the 50-day ultimatum on July 14, warning that countries purchasing Russian exports would face steep tariffs of “about 100%” if a ceasefire deal was not reached by September.
