Australia evacuates diplomats from Israel, UAE amid Iran tension
Australia has ordered “non-essential” diplomats to leave Israel and the United Arab Emirates amid military confrontation between Tel Aviv and Tehran, Foreign Minister Penny Wong announced.
"The Australian Government has directed the departure of non-essential Australian officials posted to Israel and the UAE, due to the deteriorating security situation. Essential Australian officials will remain in-country to support Australians who need it," Caliber.Az quotes Wong as saying in a post on X.
The move comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East following recent clashes between Israel and Iran. In recent weeks, Israeli authorities reported multiple attacks involving ballistic missiles and drones, prompting heightened security measures along Israel’s northern and southern borders.
