US to permanently close consulate in Pakistan
The United States will permanently close its consulate in Peshawar, Pakistan, the US diplomatic mission located closest to neighbouring Afghanistan, according to the US State Department.
Officials said the decision is part of a broader restructuring effort under the administration of US President Donald Trump aimed at reducing costs and streamlining diplomatic operations.
