An Italian military base in Erbil, located in Iraqi Kurdistan, was struck overnight by an airstrike, Italian defence officials confirmed on March 12. No personnel were injured in the incident.
Initial reports from the Italian Defence Ministry described the attack as a missile strike, but later statements indicated that a drone had destroyed a military vehicle at the base, possibly unintentionally.
