Egypt, Gulf, German ministers call for diplomacy to end Middle East war
12 March 2026 17:21
Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a series of phone calls with his counterparts from Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Oman, and Germany, agreeing that only diplomacy can bring an end to the ongoing war in the Middle East.
Abdelatty also welcomed the March 12 United Nations Security Council resolution demanding that Iran halt attacks on its Gulf neighbours, Caliber.Az reports via AP.
Egypt, the Arab world’s most populous country, said it is actively working with relevant parties to de-escalate tensions, noting the severe impact the conflict has already had on its economy. The ministers emphasised that “everyone would lose” if the escalation continued.
