Israel strikes senior Hezbollah commander linked to Iranian mssile unit
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said it conducted an operation earlier this week targeting a senior Hezbollah commander involved with Iran’s missile programme.
The strike, carried out on March 10 in Beirut, killed Abu Dharr Mohammadi, whom the IDF described as the operations commander in the IRGC-linked missile unit within Hezbollah, Caliber.Az reports via the IDF statement.
According to the IDF, Mohammadi played a central role in coordinating military activities between Hezbollah and Iranian officials, and was involved in rebuilding Hezbollah’s missile capabilities following previous Israeli operations. He was also reported to have been responsible for planning and supporting missile launches against Israel during past conflicts.
The IDF said the operation reflects Israel’s ongoing efforts to prevent attacks on its territory and to counter threats from Hezbollah.
"The IDF is operating with determination against the Hezbollah terrorist organization following its deliberate decision to attack Israel on behalf of the Iranian regime. The IDF will not tolerate any harm to the residents of the State of Israel," the statement said.
