Polish defence minister rules out sending troops to Iran
Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak- Kamysz has confirmed that Poland will not deploy troops to Iran, even if requested by US President Donald Trump, RMF 24 reports.
“No, we are not participating in this operation. I don’t think it will turn into a prolonged ground operation like in Afghanistan or Iraq,” Kosiniak- Kamysz said in an interview with a Polish news agency.
The Polish military currently maintains contingents along the Lebanon-Israel border, where the safety of its soldiers is a top priority. The minister acknowledged that the situation in the region remains highly complex.
“We are in contact not only with UN operation commanders but also ensuring Israel is aware that Polish soldiers are stationed there,” he added.
