Egypt announces plans for UN resolution on international forces in Gaza
The next critical step toward resolving the situation in Gaza involves the preparation of a draft resolution by the United Nations Security Council to establish international forces tasked with monitoring the enclave, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty announced during a briefing in New Delhi.
Abdelatty highlighted that Hamas has welcomed and accepted the peace plan in its entirety, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
He stated, “The next step is to go to New York, to the Security Council, to prepare a draft resolution that will give legitimacy to the international stabilisation forces, which are extremely important in terms of monitoring the implementation [of the plan].”
Elaborating on the objective, Abdelatty explained, “What we are trying to do is prepare a draft resolution, ensure legitimacy and define the mission and mandate of these forces, which will monitor and provide full support to the Palestinians.”
The proposed resolution aims to formalize the presence and role of international stabilisation forces in Gaza, underscoring their vital role in overseeing the peace plan’s execution and supporting Palestinian communities during this critical period.
