Elon Musk regrets tweets targeting US president
SpaceX and Tesla founder Elon Musk has expressed regret over his recent comments to US President Donald Trump that led to public anger last week.
“I regret some of my posts about President Donald Trump last week. They went too far,” Caliber.Az quotes Musk as saying on X.
Note that, the relationship between Elon Musk and US President Donald Trump has deteriorated significantly, shifting from a once-promising alliance to a public feud with notable political and economic consequences.
The conflict began when Musk openly criticized Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill Act," a comprehensive tax-cut and spending package.
Musk described the legislation as a "disgusting abomination," expressing concerns about its projected $2.4 trillion deficit and the removal of subsidies for electric vehicles.
In response, Trump accused Musk of instability and hinted at a potential review of his administration’s contracts with Musk’s companies. The situation further escalated after Musk insinuated a connection between Trump and Jeffrey Epstein, a claim he later deleted from social media.
This dispute has triggered significant economic repercussions. Tesla’s stock price experienced a sharp decline, and uncertainty surrounding the feud has raised doubts about the stability of Musk’s other ventures, including xAI and the X platform.
Politically, the fallout has created tension within the "Tech Right," a group of conservative entrepreneurs, and threatens to derail political donations Musk had intended for Trump-affiliated organisations. Additionally, approximately $22 billion worth of SpaceX contracts could be jeopardised, potentially affecting US space programmes.
