Poland’s top lawmaker opposes Trump's Nobel bid

The Speaker of Poland’s Sejm, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, has publicly stated that US President Donald Trump does not merit the Nobel Peace Prize, rejecting recent calls for his nomination.

The remarks came in response to a letter from Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana and US House of Representatives Speaker Mike Johnson, in which they urged parliamentary leaders in several countries to support Trump’s nomination, Caliber.Az reports, citing Polish media.

Czarzasty expressed categorical opposition to the initiative, arguing that Trump’s policies have destabilized key international organizations and alliances, including NATO, the European Union, the United Nations, and the World Health Organization.

“In my opinion, President Trump destabilizes the situation in these organizations by pursuing a policy of power and using force to conduct transactional policy,” he said.

He also criticized the Board of Peace established by Trump, calling it an “illusory” organization, and referenced the president’s threats toward European nations during the Greenland dispute.

“This constitutes a violation of policies, principles, values, and often international law. Customs policy, an alternative interpretation of history—for example, regarding the participation of Polish soldiers in missions—and an instrumental approach to other territories, such as Greenland. All of this means that I will not support the nomination of President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, because he does not deserve it,” Czarzasty added.
