EU countries eye strategic gains by welcoming Ukrainian military production
A number of European Union member states have expressed their willingness to accommodate production facilities of Ukrainian arms manufacturers within their borders, signaling a growing commitment to bolster defence collaboration amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
The development was confirmed by Kaja Kallas, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, during a recent briefing, Caliber.Az reports.
Addressing questions from the press, Kallas highlighted the increasing interest among EU countries to invest in the defence sector and establish military production capabilities on their territories.
Kallas remarked that numerous countries have expressed keen interest in channeling investments into the defence sector and establishing military production facilities within their jurisdictions, underscoring the pivotal role such initiatives play in fortifying Europe’s strategic defence capabilities.
She further noted that several EU states have already commenced detailed planning processes to facilitate the relocation and integration of Ukrainian defence manufacturing capacities, reflecting a pragmatic approach to supporting Ukraine’s military-industrial base while enhancing the EU’s own defence infrastructure.
