A man attempted suicide at the Grand Mosque in Mecca (Masjid al-Haram) by jumping from an upper floor of the building.
According to Caliber.Az, citing international media, the Saudi Ministry of Interior reported that the incident resulted in two hospitalisations: the man himself and a security officer who tried to prevent his fall and sustained injuries in the process.
Both remain under medical supervision, while law enforcement authorities have completed all required official procedures.
In response to the incident, the mosque’s chief imam, Sheikh Abdul Rahman al-Sudais, urged pilgrims to respect the sanctity of the site and emphasised that preserving human life is a fundamental principle of Islamic law.
