Zelenskyy discusses peace efforts with EU, NATO, Canadian leaders Ahead of Trump meeting
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held discussions with representatives from the European Union, Canada, and NATO ahead of his scheduled meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, Zelenskyy said on Telegram.
The Ukrainian leader wrote that the talks focused on diplomatic efforts to achieve a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine and on key strategic priorities, per Caliber.Az.
Participants included Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, French President Emmanuel Macron, Finnish President Aleksander Stubb, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, European Council President António Costa, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, and British Prime Minister’s adviser Jonathan Powell.
Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for the coordination and support, emphasising Ukraine’s appreciation for allied assistance.
“During the conversation, we discussed how we are proceeding along the diplomatic track. We jointly addressed key priorities. Ukraine values all the support. After tomorrow’s meeting with President Trump, we will continue the discussions,” he wrote.
