Eurovision-2022 winner sells award to help Ukrainian Army
The Ukrainian group Kalush Orchestra has sold at auction the award of the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022.
The money will go to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This was reported in stories on the official Kalush Orchestra Instagram page, RIA Novosti reports.
The start of the auction, within which the Eurovision 2022 award was put up for sale, was announced on May 25. The competition for the crystal microphone was fierce, so the final auction was moved from May 28 to May 29.
According to TV presenter and showman Serhiy Pitula, the first bet was made by Kalush's entrepreneurs, who planned to leave the award in the hometown of the group's soloist - they contributed $ 28,000. However, during today's live broadcast, the bet went from $45,000 to $900,000.
Thus, the award went to the Ukrainian cryptocurrency exchange WhiteBIT. For the proceeds, which came to the fund of S. Prytula, they plan to purchase a multi-purpose strike and reconnaissance UAV.
