Maduro calls for peace amid rising tensions with Washington
24 October 2025 21:02
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro called for calm on October 23, as tensions escalated between Caracas and Washington.
Speaking partly in English, Maduro urged restraint, saying, “No crazy war, please. Peace forever," Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
His appeal came shortly after US President Donald Trump announced that he had authorised covert operations against Venezuela as part of an expanded US military campaign targeting alleged drug traffickers in the Caribbean and Pacific regions.
The United States has deployed stealth warplanes and navy ships as part of what it calls anti-narcotics efforts, but has yet to release evidence that its targets were smuggling drugs.
