FM: Iran seeks fair nuclear deal with US Within Treaty on Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has announced that Iran is aiming for a fair and balanced agreement with the US, grounded in the principles of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).
Araghchi said that Iran was seeking a just and balanced agreement, formalised under the NPT, which would fully respect the country’s nuclear rights and clearly guarantee the complete lifting of sanctions, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
On May 11, the fourth round of indirect talks between Iran and the US took place in Muscat, the capital of Oman. Following the negotiations, Iran’s Foreign Ministry reported progress, noting that the two sides had moved closer in their positions on the nuclear issue.
On May 17, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian ruled out any possibility of relinquishing the country’s achievements in the military sector and the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
At the same time, he emphasised Tehran’s willingness to continue dialogue with Washington. Earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the US administration aims to persuade Iran to abandon its nuclear ambitions. President Trump wants to see prosperous Iran—without nuclear weapons.
