Sulphuric acid spills from rail tanker in Poland’s Mieszkowice Authorities say situation under control
Emergency services are responding to a minor sulphuric acid leak from a rail tanker in Mieszkowice, a town in Gryfino County, West Pomeranian Voivodeship in western Poland.
Authorities have reassured the public that the situation is under control, Caliber.Az reports via Polish media.
The incident occurred on a siding in the town on Friday morning. According to Asp. Dariusz Schacht of the West Pomeranian Provincial Fire Service in Szczecin, the leak is “minimal, droplet-sized.”
Twelve fire service units are on site, including a specialised chemical rescue team from Szczecin, which is working to seal the leak.
The Mieszkowice municipal authorities posted an official statement on Facebook, emphasising that there is currently no threat to the health or lives of residents.
The statement urged the public to remain calm and to follow any instructions issued by emergency services.
