Pentagon awards contracts to support Ukrainian F-16 fleet
The U.S. Department of Defence has awarded several major contracts to provide maintenance, training, and logistical support for Ukraine’s F-16 fighter aircraft, marking a significant step in Washington’s ongoing military assistance program.
Belgium-based Sabena Aerospace Engineering received a $235.4 million ceiling contract to support F-16 aircraft and engine maintenance, as well as material management, under the F-16 System Program Office Foreign Military Sales (FMS) initiative, Caliber.Az reports via U.S. Department of War.
Work will be performed at Sabena’s Woluwe-Saint-Lambert facility, with completion expected by January 2029. At the time of the award, $69.7 million in FMS funds were obligated.
L3Harris Technologies Integrated Systems L.P., Greenville, Texas, was awarded $95.6 million under a cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for contractor logistics support.
The contract will sustain aircraft and ground stations, with work expected to finish by the end of 2027. This award, also part of FMS, includes $28.4 million in obligated funds.
Additionally, CAE USA Inc. of Arlington, Texas, received a $69.9 million modification to a prior contract to deliver F-16 Block 70 training simulators for the Taiwan Air Force, with work set to conclude by August 2028.
