US Treasury chief sees postwar Germany model for Ukraine

Ukraine could follow a path similar to that taken by Germany after its defeat in World War II, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said at an event organized by Breitbart.

“How did Germany manage to return to the global community after World War II? I mean, there is a certain path here. And there is such a path for Ukraine as well,” Bessent noted.

He also acknowledged that a settlement to the conflict in Ukraine would not be possible without engagement with Russia.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that new ideas for resolving the Ukraine conflict had been discussed during talks in Moscow and Kyiv.
