Kyrgyz president urges public figures to avoid deepening social divisions

09 September 2026 11:30

Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Zhaparov has called on politicians, journalists, bloggers and experts to act responsibly, warning that their words can have a significant impact on social cohesion.

Zhaparov said Kyrgyzstan had already experienced the consequences of political confrontation, social division and instability, stressing the need to avoid rhetoric that could further polarise society, Caliber.Az reports per Kyrgyz media

“Issues such as land, language, the economy, social problems, history, culture, and other sensitive topics will always be discussed in society. But no one has the right to turn disputes into discord or to use discussions of problems as a tool to divide society. This applies especially to those who wield influence: government and political officials, lawmakers, experts, community leaders, journalists, and bloggers,” said Zhaparov.

He said sensitive issues should not be deliberately aggravated for political gain, urging public figures to consider the broader social consequences of their statements.

The president emphasised that those with influence over public opinion bear particular responsibility for maintaining social stability and preventing disputes from turning into wider divisions.
