Fourteen miners trapped In Colombian coal mine
A total of 14 persons were in a coal mine in northern Colombia after an underground explosion.
There was an explosion in the coal mine, which is considered to be illegal, in the town of Zulia in the Santander administrative region, according to the news in the Colombian media.
The statement, made by the National Mining Agency (ANM), says that emergency teams immediately started search and rescue efforts for the miners, but 1 person died.
ANM noted that it may take days to reach the 14 missing workers.
Numerous fatal accidents occur due to the lack of security measures and lack of control over illegal mineral exploration in Columbia.
The death of 73 people in a coal mine explosion in Colombia in 2010 was recorded as "the most tragic accident in the country's history".
